Ruminations and Chronic Major Depression

The following is a letter to an old friend who is not named here.  It is in response to his vicious and personal attacks on my character that was a follow on to my very brief discussion of current politics. I doubt my friend, who lives in a multi-million dollar home in Rustic Canyon, which he inherited from his parents, even knows what the term ad hominem means.

I said:

Please forgive my tendency to worry over issues to death. I am sure that if I were healthier, if I was at all successful in my personal, creative or professional life, that I would not have the time to worry about this.

Of course, you should not have to hear my extreme politics if you dont want to. I think that we are living the most important period of our lives and any time spent fighting for freedom and our country is worthwhile. You may or may not agree, or maybe you just dont want to hear it from me.

That is fair.

On the other hand, if you care, there are more polite ways of telling me to go away and not bother you.

Its hard for me to let go of old friends, especially one who has been as important as you have been to my life.

Have a good day.
