AI Helps People Get Jobs that Are Demeaning and Pay Badly

I was just talking to some people at Trader Joe's in Chapel Hill, NC and they said that when they opened the job opening portal a few days ago, they got maybe 250 applications in 24 hours.  The person I was talking to, a manager at TJs, says that several of them had been laid off of their previous job because of AI.  Tell me, do you think the companies that are making (you tell me) hundreds of billions of dollars on AI are going to trickle some of that money, maybe a few pennies, down stream to the people who they have impoverished?  Asking for a friend.

The Corrupt Uber Scam in Los Angeles

It was about 1 am in West Los Angeles.  I called a rideshare and it would be 5 minutes before it arrived.  This made no sense to me, there was no traffic.  I know there are a lot of Uber drivers in LA.

So the Tesla showed up and I asked the driver.  And he explained he worked 40 hours a week for a firm that makes a corrupt deal with Uber.  Uber does not direct requests to independent drivers, they direct ride requests to those who give them bribes, no matter how long the requester / victim has to wait.

What I like about this is that it fits the corruption that is Los Angeles, the hype and bullshit of the so called gig economy, and of course the corruption of the child murderer Elon Musk.
